For the symptomatic treatment of severe excitation and fear conditions. Alprazolam acts by increasing the activity of GABA. The maximum duration of treatment should not exceed a period of 8 to 12 weeks because of the risk of addiction.
Alprazolpam strengthens the effect of many other CNS medicaments. Euphoric conditions arises in combination with analgetics, thus increasing the risk of addiction.
Alprazolam leads to emotional dullness and reduced attention. It causes with uptake over a longer period a psychological and, in addition, physical dependence. When suddently set off withdrawal symptoms arise.
Therapeutic blood levels: 0.005 to 0,05 µg/ml.
