Alcohol plays a particularly large role as socially recognized and thus legalised drug. The alcohol topic is therefore dedicated its own website ALEX - alcohol encyclopedia, which treats the entire complex alcohol topic from an interdisciplinary point of view.
Simultaneous consumption of alcohol and medicines and / or legal and illegal drugs results nearly always in additive effects (synergistic, strengthening effect). Already under relatively small alcoholic influence and normal therapeutic doses, in case of illegal drugs user-usual doses, a clear enhanced influence is visible, affecting the reactivity up to unconsciousness (K.O. drops!). In extreme cases a deadly running intoxication is possible. Heroine deaths in combination with alcohol has occured at morphine concentrations slightly over 0.1 µg/ml.
