Scene term for a drug-dependent, who injects his drugs (get a fix), e.g. heroin or cocaine. The desired drug effect is reached much faster by injecting, however, the danger of deadly overdosage grows. The syringes used for the injection are also called "fixes" in the scene jargon. The exchange of used syringes between the dependants (so-called "needle sharing") increases the risk of HIV and AIDS infection.
Scene term for the so-called "safe injecting room", a place to get a fix of the drug in a legal, safe environment. Such rooms had been established in many western european capitals but are discussed in some countries in a conflicting view.
