Carbamazepine is used for the effective treatment for epilepsy, but also used for the preventing of the avoidance of accumulations with MS and the alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Daily uptake 400-1200 mg after slowly increased dosage to the beginning of therapy. Tablets with 200 mg active substance, retarding tablets with 200, 400 and 600 mg. Adverse Effects: somnolence, sedation, tiredness, ataxias. By overdosage consciousness disturbances up to coma.
Half-life-time 8-24 hours. The dismantling takes place in the liver to the 10,11-carbamazepine epoxide. Interactions with other substances, usually accelerating, among other with psychopharmaca.
Therapeutic blood level: 2-8 µg/ml
